The booming commodity funds market has become increasingly attractive to many investors, with hard assets such as oil and gold perhaps offering a safe hedge against the current inflation, as well as the double digit gains in the market that have been fast disappearing from the markets for stocks, bonds and real estate.

Undeterred by the kind of volatile downdrafts that have sent oil plummeting 4.5 percent very recently, only to settle at $104.48 a barrel, large commodity funds and rich individual investors have sent a burst of cash into this enigmatic market over the last year, tumbling records for new money flowing in.

Small investors are pushing in, as well, using dozens of new retail commodity funds to participate in markets that by one measure have jumped about 20 percent in the last six months and have almost doubled in six years.

However, this market, despite its sparkle, can offer risks of its own, including some dangerous faults that are impairing the ability of regulators to police marketing fraud and protect all investors. Commodities are also open to attack with to the same worries affecting all of Wall Street, where recently the Dow Jones industrial average plummeted almost 300 points, erasing more than two thirds of the previous steep gains.

In addition, the biggest venture’s and lenders in the commodities fund markets are some of the same giant hedge funds, commercial banks and brokerage houses that have been caught in the stormy weather of the equity, housing and credit markets.

As in those commodity fund markets, an dry up of credit could force some large investors (especially hedge funds speculating with much of the money being borrowed) to sell off their holdings, this will create price swings that will affect a host of marketplace prices and completely wipe out small investors in just a few minutes of trading.

Right now is a very scary time for commodity fund market regulators. It is not a question of over regulating or even under regulating. It is a question of just being deluged by volume, volatility and a dramatically scary shift toward speculative interests.

What is The Life of Your Smile Makeover?

Cosmetic dentistry procedures can require maintenance over a period of time. Teeth whitening should be repeated on occasion in order to maintain brightness. Porcelain veneers can chip or break off and need replacement. Permanent bondings can stain and require enhancement or replacement. Dental crowns will typically require replacement after 10 to 15 years. Gummy smile improvements could also require enhancement over a period of time.

Your ceramist, lab technician, and the materials chosen by your dentist are also affecting the longevity of your Smile Makeover. To achieve the best results, you must take special care in selecting your cosmetic dentist.

When choosing a copywriting service, you want to choose a company that knows words will help you to achieve your sales and marketing objectives.

A copywriting service should provide much help in selling your products; promote your services and changing your customer perceptions of all. Words will be the most important part of your sales and marketing communications. Until the words are well developed and focus specifically on the proposition, any design work will not be of any help.

Even though a lot of very attractive work has been done, the creativity in the words will really be leading the communication. By embracing a words first approach, you will be better able to judge how well the copy is reflecting the brief.

If you have the words right, then the concept will generally be sitting there in the first few paragraphs just waiting to be capitalized by the designer. The real experts in any field talk about the subject in a clear and straight forward fashion, using a simple analogy to put across detailed ideas. In addition, they will respect that ability in others.

With well defined messages in the body of the text, everyone can exercise a degree of objectivity in judging how well the images support your text and message.

If the design allows information to be retrieved from the web or printed page in the right sequence and with the right emphasis you have truly been successful in your copywriting services.

Many who struggle with their weight look at weight loss surgery as a magic pill. They believe that if they can just get the weight off, their lives will take a turn for the better in so many areas, eg, romantically, professionally and socially. But, there are actually more reason to avoid weight loss surgery, because it is no magic bullet. Following are two very powerful ones.

Are You Ready to Make a Lifestyle Change? One of the main reasons to avoid weight loss surgery is lifestyle change. Any person who has successfully lost weight and kept it off can tell you that losing weight is not about shedding pounds, but about shedding a lifestyle.

Many forget that food can be an addition, just like alcohol and drugs. And, much like an alcoholic or a drug addict who has come out of rehab, you have to avoid old habits, old routines – and maybe even old friends and some loved ones. This is because they serve as triggers for your overeating.

Addiction counselors advise patients to stay away from friends, family and situations that perpetuated their addictive habits. For example, if you’re an alcoholic and have a group of friends who like to play pool every Saturday night while downing drink after drink, that’s not a situation he or she should put themselves in.

The same is true for food addicts. If you have a group of girlfriends who enjoy going out to the local pizza joint every Sunday afternoon, you may need to find a group of friends who enjoy going for a run instead.

Do You Like Who You Are? If you don’t intrinsically like who you are, you should avoid weight loss surgery. Why? Because losing weight won’t change who you are on the inside. He or she will remain the same. And, you have to be comfortable with that person before you can change the outside, because this comes with a whole other set of problems.

Avoiding weight loss surgery and losing weight the old-fashioned way – diet, exercise and self-control – can give you a better you on more than just the outside. It can heal some internal conflicts as well.

Try FORM Weight Loss… and lose weight safely… FORM is designed to help you eat less. If you eat less then you will lose weight. It is that simple.

Few things smell or taste better than plump fruit picked at the peak of perfection. So why not give the gift of good taste? These days, there are countless varieties of exotic and otherwise delicious fruits that are grown specifically to wow their lucky recipients: head-sized pears, hand-shaped lemons and even “star fruit.” In winter or in summer, a basket of fresh ripe fruit is sure to impress and delight.

Why give fresh fruit gift baskets? First, fruit is highly symbolic. Trees bare fruit just as parents bare progeny. Moreover, they are often associated with seduction, taking a page from Genesis – all of sin for an apple, if you remember. And last, since fruit are not only the product of trees but also themselves contain the seed for future trees, they are symbolic of children and parenting in one. Giving fruit can be considered the most thoughtful and symbolic gesture if it is given as a gift of congratulations (as congratulations mark the birth of something new), a gift celebrating a newborn, wedding, or engagement, or as a get well gift since fruit contains within it the nourishment to return to health. But the gift of fruit goes further than symbolism – it is just down right delicious. That’s why I often find myself giving fruit as a thank you gift, a housewarming gift, or a “just because” gift.

It used to be that you had to live in sunny California or Florida to give fruit that anyone cared about – unless you lived in New York or Georgia and could give apples or peaches. But these days, you don’t need to live next to the orchard or grove in order to give the gift of great-tasting fruit year round. Online gift basket companies put together some of the best fruit gift baskets I have ever seen. Filled with rare fruits like calamansi, buddha’s hands, Muscat grapes, and perfect peaches these baskets will impress not only with the quantity of rare fruits but also with the quality, as these companies pay a pretty penny to get their pick of the crop.

A word of advice: if you are looking to give the gift of fruit, order your gift basket from a company that specializes in gift baskets and not necessarily straight from the orchard. Though you’ll pay a premium, the recipient of your gift will appreciate it all the more. Gift basket companies are experts when it comes to arranging, packing, and shipping your fruit so that it is beautiful and perfectly fresh and ripe when it arrives to its destination, whereas groves or orchards really only specialize in growing fruit.

The conventional wisdom says that English is the language of business. But to what extent is business - and economic growth, for that matter - contingent on fluency in the language? An examination of the rise of India and China in the global economy offers insight into the relevance of language as a driver for growth, and reveals that the conventional wisdom may be right, but needn’t be applied universally.

It is worth considering first the growth story unfolding in India. After years of a cool Asian economic climate, in the late 1990s India emerged as a force to be reckoned with, as high value currencies such as the dollar, pound, and marc were leveraged by the cheap Indian rupee and a large supply of great labor. But what facilitated the transfer of wealth from richer countries to a developing country like India was - in a large part - an English-speaking lower class that could replace English speakers in many English-speaking ‘back offices’ located in rich countries, where costs of living demanded that high wages were paid to workers. The result was a massive shift not only in service jobs that led to the now ubiquitous Indian call centers, but also a shift in technology jobs, as a skilled, English-speaking engineering class emerged that was willing to work for a fraction of their American counterparts. Of course, all things do come to an end, and with the creation of a broad-based middle class, so came with it the seeds for tougher times: the rupee appreciated on world markets and prices rose, leading to a much more expensive Indian workforce that made many foreign companies reconsider their investments there. Nevertheless, a newfound middle class ensured that there would be domestic demand for Indian goods and services allowing India to ‘fish for itself’ in the pursuit of economic growth. Had India not had such a large English-speaking population, it is fair to say that it would have remained off the radar of many foreign companies that sought to cut costs, and thus would have remained without the middle class necessary to grow the economy from within.

China, however, offers an interesting counterexample to the utility of English. Whereas in India about 50% of the population speaks English fluently or marginally as a second language, in China that percentage is somewhere in the low single digits. Nevertheless, China’s economy has managed outgrow India’s at a rate of almost 2 to 1. The Chinese growth story, however, is a different one from India’s. Where India’s growth was in a large part the result of job creation in the services sector, which led to a growth in jobs elsewhere in the economy to support a new middle class, China’s growth was driven by the cheapness of labor and thus the cheapness with which goods could be manufactured and sold on the world market, in no small part also due to the country’s manipulation of currency. While the country has made great strides towards teaching English, China never required English on the same scale because growth was fueled by Chinese-speaking factory workers and not English-speaking administrative staff and engineers. Nevertheless, the Chinese growth story would have never unfolded without the demand for Chinese goods from America and Europe, which, to be sure, was facilitated by the existence of Chinese businessmen who spoke English and - to a lesser extent - Chinese expatriate businessmen living in the west who were able to get deals done.

Well, guess I need to bite the bullet and call an international moving company. Don’t know which one, maybe I should Google it. I still can’t believe I have to leave the home I’ve always known to go live somewhere I’ve never been – the USA.

How can I leave South Africa, the adventure capital of the world where natural beauty and wildlife abound? Where one can follow the African drum and gumboot beat; the bright sun, stars and city streets; the friendly people, rich culture and freedom struggle that warms even the coldest person’s heart. Not to mention the invigorating mountain and ocean air. Can the USA offer anything even close to that? I wonder. Sigh.

But work is work. My company has offered me a huge promotion to make this move. I have to yank up my roots and the roots of my wife and children, I don’t have a choice. I never wanted my children to grow up anywhere else other than South Africa. It’s in our bones, has been for generations and generations. It really is for the future of my children that I make this move, even though they won’t see it that way for probably a very long time.

Okay, okay, enough procrastinating. I’m Googling international moving company right now to get some phone numbers. Let’s see…it says to put my home country in, South Africa, and my destination, New York, USA. Hmmm…what’s this I see? A whole list of international moving companies - and they’re willing to give me online quotes. Wow…this is going to be easier than I thought!

Okay, I’ve got quotes and now I’m going to check out the short listed international moving companies on the Better Business Bureau and Epinion. Thank God for the Internet! My wife helps me make the choice and we set up a date and time next month for them to come, pack up our lives and move us to another. For it truly is like starting a whole new life. The international moving company gives us advice on the rules, regulations and laws for the move and even hooks us up with a realtor. So far, so good.

I decide to Google New York and the pictures that come up look promising… and it’s right on the ocean too! We make online lodging at a five star hotel until our home is ready and decide to have a family vacation for the first month. We’re all excited now.

We book a couple of Broadway shows, trip to the Empire State Building, a general NYC tour, cruise of the harbor, tour of the Statue of Liberty and just so we don’t get over-immersed in culture, a Six Flags Great Adventure…for the kids of course.

I’m feeling better now. I realize that home is wherever you make it. I will always carry the beat of South Africa in my heart even though life’s adventures may take me afar!

It might not have occurred to you, but mold can exist even in some of the hottest climates, such as parts of the southwestern United States. Just because this mold can exist there, however, does not mean that it is not a danger to human beings. People who live in the deserts of the southwestern U.S. might not think that they are in any danger from mold due to the high temperatures and lack of rain, but the fact is that these areas are in just as much danger of mold and water damage as areas that get more rain and have more life-friendly temperatures.

Coccidioides simmitis is a dangerous mold that lives in the western deserts of the United States and causes what has become known as “Valley Fever”. This is a skin disease that can lead to death if it is left untreated for long enough and while this mold is located in the deserts of the southwestern United States and even Mexico, it is oddly absent from the deserts of other continents such as Asia, Africa, and Australia.

The reason that mold damage can be a huge problem in areas of desert such as those of Arizona and New Mexico is that residents sometimes use “swamp heaters” to cool down their homes and offices during the most hot and dry parts of the year. Unfortunately, the downside to these will cause the indoor humidity to skyrocket and condensation ends up building on windows and any other cold surface. Leaks can also occur where water pipes flow upward to the coolers on the rooftops and this can cause water damage to attics, ceilings, and walls.

Water and air conditioning are very important in desert climates and so the possibility of air conditioning condensation leakage and plumbing leaks is pretty high. Air conditioners and fans are used almost constantly and in some places, hot water heaters are not needed during the majority of the year because the water is hot when it comes out of the faucet.

Most of the mold insurance claims in the deserts of the United States are caused by water damage, even though most people think that desert climates do not have enough moisture to cause mold to become an issue. With the presence of the mold that causes Valley Fever in the southwestern United States, if you live in a desert area, you should be extremely careful to make sure that water leaks in your home or business are taken care of very quickly and efficiently.

A food called red yeast rice in English has been a favorite dish in Asian countries for a long time and is a traditional part of Peking duck. Traditional Chinese medicine has used the dish for over 1,000 years in order to help the body keep up a good circulatory system and heart. In China, its use has been noted as far back as the Tang Dynasty of China back in 800 A.D. There might be a good reason for this use, since recent research has shown that red yeast rice is quite good at assisting in lowering a person’s cholesterol. Just what is red yeast rice?

Red yeast rice is made by fermenting a mold called monascus purpureus on top of rice. There is a unique process that is used to separate the naturally occurring ingredient called mevinolin and this somewhat similar to other drugs that doctors give their patients to fight high cholesterol like Lipitor and Zocor. While everyone needs cholesterol in order to have a healthy life, having too much of it as most people know can lead to problems. Our livers produce about eighty percent of the cholesterol that the body needs and the other twenty percent comes from the food that we eat. What the red yeast rice does when you eat it is block the enzyme that exists in the liver to induce the production of cholesterol. Unsaturated fatty acids in the red yeast rice could also possibly add to the beneficial attributes of it.

The possibility of its medical uses has only recently been noticed in western countries, even though it has been used in Asia for centuries. An extract of one of its natural ingredients, mevinolin, is often sold over the counter as a dietary supplement of sorts to be used for controlling cholesterol. You do not need a prescription for this supplement and some people are taking advantage of this.

It is not recommended to eat red yeast rice or take the dietary supplement of mevinolin if you have already been prescribed a drug for high cholesterol such as Lipitor or Zocor.

What about the mold that is used to make the dish? Monascus purpureus is a purplish-red mold in the family Monascaceae and it is used mainly in Asian dishes for color, however it can also impart a pleasant flavor to the food, as well.

You’ve been working in Marin for years. You are about to retire, and now you look at your retirement income. How do you maximize its use?

The first risk is the cost-of-living increases and lower-than-projected returns on your investments. As retirement draws near, you may realize that you do not have the income that you had predicted years earlier. This is why you need to frequently assess your retirement account in the years leading up to retirement. Income may be different from what you had expected, and you need to plan for this. Reduction of spending on certain luxury items may be one course of action as you attempt to put more money away for retirement.

Once you do make it to retirement, you need to make the best financial decisions based on how long your life expectancy is. If you expect to live quite long yet, then you may need to be more aggressive in your investment strategies to maximize your retirement income. You also may want to consider how liquid your accounts are: can you pull money out when you need it, or do you need to plan a certain amount at a certain time?

Using careful planning, you can use your retirement income to its fullest potential, and ensure a high quality of life in your retirement years.
